ISO 14001:2026 Transition
EMS Transition Support
Transition to ISO 14001:2026 with confidence
ISO 14001 has been revised, with the new ISO 14001:2026 Environmental Management System standard published in April 2026. Organisations certified to ISO 14001:2015 must transition to the updated standard within the formal three‑year transition period (April 2029) to maintain certification validity.
The 2026 revision reflects the increasing importance of environmental performance, climate change, biodiversity and supply‑chain accountability. While the structure of ISO 14001 remains familiar; expectations around governance, environmental risk and lifecycle impacts have been strengthened.
Teamwork IMS supports organisations through a structured, practical and proportionate ISO 14001:2026 transition, minimising disruption while ensuring your EMS continues to deliver meaningful environmental and business outcomes.

Frequently asked questions
ISO 14001:2026 is the updated version of the Environmental Management System standard. The revision reflects growing expectations around environmental responsibility, climate change, resource use and value‑chain impacts. While the core structure remains the same, the standard places greater emphasis on leadership accountability, understanding environmental conditions and demonstrating that environmental controls are effective in practice, not just documented.
Yes. Organisations certified to ISO 14001:2015 must transition to ISO 14001:2026 within the formal transition period (April 2029) to maintain certification. Certification bodies will expect evidence that the revised requirements have been addressed as part of a transition, surveillance or recertification audit. After the transition deadline, certificates to the 2015 version will no longer be valid.
Teamwork IMS provides practical, proportionate transition support, including gap analysis, transition planning, EMS updates and audit readiness. We focus on embedding changes into everyday operations, not just meeting audit requirements.
Although the transition window is open until 2029, organisations that take early action benefit from better planning, smoother audits and reduced risk. Starting now allows time to embed changes and realise improved environmental outcomes.
