Government Code of Connection for GSi and GCSX
Securing Networks - Government Code of Connection
Government Connect is a pan-government programme providing an accredited and secure network between central government and every local authority in England and Wales. The network is known as GCSX (Government Connect Secure Extranet). GCSX is part of the wider Government Secure Intranet (GSi). The GSI is a secure managed network which allows Government agencies and departments to exchange and share Protectively Marked Information with other GSI community customers such as the Police, the NHS and criminal justice.
Who is it relevant to?
Local Authorities and other public sector bodies that that wish to connect to the GSI are required to complete a Code of Connection (CoCo). In England and Wales it is referred to as the GCSX Code of Connection (CoCo). In Scotland it is referred to as the GSX Code of Connection (CoCo). This will allow them to communicate with trusted partners up to HMG UK RESTRICTED.
Benefits of Compliance with the Government Code of Connection
Transformation requires recognised standards of information security and trusted communication links across government. Once secure and trusted links are established across government there are limitless Service Transformation opportunities that can be exploited to establish real shared services and achieve significant service improvements and efficiency savings. As a member of the GSi family GCSX provides Local Authorities with a recognised and trusted communication link to central and local government.
