BS25999 - the Standard

BS25999 covers the activities for establishing a business continuity plan and ongoing management process. The standard provides a generic business continuity planning framework for review of corporate ICT approaches, and to reduce loss to the organisation and customers due to interruption of business processes. The availability of supplier Business Continuity plans are increasingly of interest to central and local government, financial and other sector clients during their procurement processes. Business Continuity Plans are also essential for information security and IT service management certification. However, the BS 25999 standard takes this one stage further providing a fully certified management system for business continuity.
